AAUW Launches The Not So Simple Truth About the Gender Pay Gap (2026 Update)
AAUW’s new The (Not So) Simple Truth About the Gender Pay Gap report shows that pay inequity isn’t just about fairness — it’s about women’s lifelong economic security. In 2024, women working full-time, year-round earned just 81 cents for every dollar paid to men — and only 76 cents when all working women, including part-time and seasonal workers, are counted. Over a 40-year career, that gap adds up to about $542,800 in lost wages, underscoring why closing the pay gap requires comprehensive solutions that address discrimination, job segregation, and caregiving penalties
