Sona Pancholy is a non-profit executive, recovering lawyer, and an advocate. As the President of Meritas, she lead a global alliance of independent law firms reaching 90 countries. Under her leadership the organization creates business opportunities and services for a membership of over 180 firms and 8,500 lawyers. She is an officer of the organization and works closely with the Chair and Board of Directors to set strategy and lead the organization. Prior to joining Meritas, she served as a key leader driving business development, product and service development, and strategic planning for Bloomberg Industry Group, AmLaw 100 law firms, and other nonprofits. She’s the daughter of immigrant parents and understands the importance of giving back to the community. She has not only created and lead diversity, equity and inclusion programs at work but has also volunteered her time with various community organizations to help strengthen the voice of women, Asian Americans, and minority communities. She has extensive experience providing executive leadership and serving on nonprofit boards, including the Asian American Justice Center, International Consortium for Law & Development, and the World Jurist Association. By taking time to understand the core mission of each organization, listening it key stakeholders, and identifying community needs, She has ensured that these organizations met or exceeded their goals and served their objectives well. She is honored to have supported AAUW’s International Fellows Program and the International Projects and Grants Program by volunteering her time to review applications and lead the review process. The work of the women from around the world who pursue their dreams while making such an impact has inspired her work long after the few weeks of service ends each year. She is excited to join the AAUW Board of Directors and to continue her contribution to the organization.
