Leshell Hatley

Leshell Hatley is the director of STEM programs. Prior to joining AAUW, she was an associate professor of Computer Science at Coppin State University and the principal investigator of the Lab for Artificial Intelligence and its Applications. She is a passionate computer engineer, educator and researcher who develops innovative approaches to teaching and advocating for STEM students of all ages. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Leshell has led student competition teams, dedicated STEM instructors, and teams of engineers to achieve award- winning success, national news coverage and innovative technology product designs.

Leshell received her Ph.D. from George Mason University, a master’s degree with a focus on human/computer interaction from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in computer systems engineering from Howard University.
