Print It, Share It: AAUW’s New $10 Bills for Equal Pay

Download PDF — 2 MB

The U.S. Treasury Department’s effort to put a woman on the $10 bill is intended to symbolize the gains our nation has made when it comes to gender equity. Yet women working full time in the United States typically are paid only 79 cents for every dollar paid to men. And the numbers are worse for women of color: African American women typically are paid 63 percent of what white men are paid, and Hispanic and Latina women are paid even less, just 54 percent.

AAUW’s reimagined $10 bills illustrate what the bill would like if we were honest about the gender pay gap. Help us call on Americans to join the fight for fair pay by sharing our reimagined $10 bills at your next gathering:

Together, we can take action for equal pay.
