Take Action with AAUW during the 2018 State of the Union Address!January 23, 2018
On January 30 President Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. The annual State of the Union is an opportunity for the president to outline his administration’s priorities and legislative goals. His address will be an opportunity for advocates to assess those commitments and make plans to hold our elected officials accountable to them.
But real progress requires action, not just words. It’s crucial that our representatives do more than pay lip service; that means supporting strong, effective solutions to the issues that impact women and families.
AAUW will be listening to the State of the Union to hear how the president addresses our Public Policy Priorities, and we’ll be taking action to advocate for policies that advance gender equity.
Follow along with us during the State of the Union address at 9 p.m. on January 30 and tell the administration and Congress to take action using the prompts below, or click through now to make your voice heard today.
The State of the Union is just one day of the year, but our democracy requires our attention, hard work, and advocacy on all 365 days. Continue to speak up in the fight for gender equity with AAUW’s Action Network.
