Engineer a Lesson 2013: A STEM for Girls Lesson Plan

The winning submission to AAUW’s 2013 Battle of the Plans: Engineer a Lesson lesson plan contest is available for teachers and educators to use in their own classrooms.  Contest winner Heather Krey created this lesson plan for fifth grade students that combines art and math to explore ideas central to the profession of industrial engineering, including productivity, efficiency, and quality. Krey also provides tips for adapting the plan for other ages and educational settings, a quiz to use along with the lesson plan, and reflections on her own experience using the plan with a Girl Scout troop in her area.
