Bylaws Tool Kit
As the leader in your branch who is responsible for bylaws, you need to make sure your branch is following AAUW’s policies and has up to date bylaws that enable you to carry out your work. Collaborate with your president or administrator to understand AAUW’s policies and review your own rules.
The AAUW Bylaws contain the rules and regulations enacted by AAUW to provide a framework for its operation and management.
The AAUW Board of Directors supports adoption of all proposed bylaws amendments, the proposed public policy platform, and resolutions on this year’s ballot.

This document contains the AAUW Action Fund’s charter, as well as the rules and regulations for managing the Action Fund and conducting its affairs.
States, branches, and comparable AAUW-affiliated entities must develop and maintain bylaws that comply with AAUW policies and federal and state laws. Review your own bylaws and determine if they need updating to meet all requirements. AAUW entities must adopt all the mandatory sections contained in the AAUW model bylaws.

States, branches, and comparable AAUW-affiliated entities are encouraged to embrace these goals and strategies, build your own plans, and determine how you can contribute to AAUW’s shared organizational success within the parameters of your own resources and communities.
Other than the specific administrative and financial responsibilities to AAUW, job descriptions are flexible according to your organization’s resources and interests. Review the position descriptions and amend them to meet your organization’s needs.
All AAUW affiliates (branches, states, Younger Women’s Task Force chapters, and the Collegiate Women’s Leadership Educators Alliance) must submit requested documentation to the national office in order to be recognized as an entity officially affiliated with AAUW.

These resolutions include principles to guide study and action, as well as general statements of AAUW policy.
AAUW Annual Meeting
As specified in the AAUW Bylaws, AAUW holds an annual meeting each June. In odd-numbered years, the annual meeting takes place during the AAUW National Convention. In even-numbered years, the annual meeting is held during the June AAUW Board of Directors meeting, but no business is transacted at that time.
The AAUW annual meeting will be held June 16, 2017, in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the 2017 AAUW National Convention.
In order to meet IRS requirements, all AAUW branches and states must sign an AAUW affiliate agreement.
All AAUW affiliates must submit required documents in order to be recognized as an entity officially affiliated with AAUW.
