One Member, One Vote Site Is Open for Business
AAUW business, that is! Now through November 15, all members can help shape AAUW’s future by proposing and commenting on bylaws amendments and resolutions through the One Member, One Vote website. The AAUW Public Policy Program will be posted for comment in October. In the spring, members will vote on the proposed changes and for officers for the national AAUW Board of Directors. Questions? Read the FAQ!

Could You Be on AAUW’s Board of Directors? Not Unless You Apply!

Two Great Ideas for It’s My Vote Activities
AAUW of Michigan members successfully registered 104 voters and 34 new volunteers while actresses and legislators performed The Vagina Monologues on the steps of the Michigan Capitol to protest anti-choice language on the state’s House floor. Meanwhile, AAUW Director of Public Policy Lisa Maatz recently joined a bipartisan panel of female Idaho legislators and candidates at an event called Women and Politics in Idaho and the Nation, part of the state’s It’s My Vote campaign. What is your branch doing to make sure women go the polls this November?

Bring Tech Trek to Your Community in 2013!
AAUW is expanding the enormously successful Tech Trek camp model from AAUW of California. Five new Tech Trek sites will be selected for 2013. Branches, national members, and state leadership groups are encouraged to apply to bring this exciting STEM program to girls in their communities. The application process opens online later this month. E-mail stem@aauw.org to receive an overview of the process and a reminder to apply.

Fox TV Features AAUW’s Lisa Maatz and Crossing the Line
AAUW Director of Public Policy Lisa Maatz brought AAUW’s latest research on sex-based bullying and harassment in schools to Fox viewers in Washington, D.C. Maatz said that most kids are harassed but don’t tell anyone. AAUW sent letters to 10 of the largest U.S. school districts asking that they correct their reports of zero incidents of sexual harassment. How well is your school district doing?
