Comments on Minimum Essential Coverage
AAUW submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services regarding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Miscellaneous Minimum Essential Coverage Provisions proposed rule. When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law in March 2010, AAUW believed that, although not perfect by any stretch, many of the law’s reforms would improve the collective health of the American people. It is our hope that the full implementation of the ACA’s requirements will result in better health outcomes for women. AAUW has recommendations regarding
- eligibility determinations for exemptions under Medicaid expansion,
- minimum essential coverage for student health plans, and
- family planning and pregnancy-only services.
