AAUW Internships in Program and Leadership Development for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Location: AAUW National Office, Washington, D.C.

AAUW seeks an undergraduate or graduate student to assist with program and leadership development, basic research, evaluation, and assessment. The intern position will assist our associate directors on a number of unique projects. This is a non-paid position, ideal for students able to volunteer, receive grants, financial aid, or internship credit, plus students needing to complete a practicum experience.

Initiatives that interns may work on include enhancing our College and University Partnership Program, program and leadership development, planning and coordination for AAUW national meetings, conferences or conventions. Additional opportunities exist to serve on multidisciplinary committees and help implement the annual National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.

Other varied tasks might include composition of newsletters, such as an e-zine directed to college women students, compilation and analysis of data from surveys, research and assistance in development of new initiatives and grant proposals, programmatic support to AAUW members, and follow up with branches/states on program activities that promote education and equity for women and girls.

  • Ability to multitask and plan ahead to meet deadlines
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Desire to work independently and within a cohesive team
