AAUW Delegate Speaks at U.N. Commission on the Status of Women Session

Josselyn Portillo is a senior at Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York, and a native of El Salvador, and an AAUW delegate to the United Nations. Recently, she was chosen by the members of the young women’s “speak out” organized by the Working Group on Girls of the NGO Committee on UNICEF to read the statement prepared by the Girls’ Caucus at the Feb/March 2005 meeting of the U.N.'s Commission on the Status of Women. She appeared during the discussion following the panel entitled “Future Perspectives on the Promotion of Gender Equality: Through the Eyes of Young Women and Men.”
