Travel Information

The 2008 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders will be held on the beautiful campus of Georgetown University located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

IMPORTANT NOTICE! Students are only allowed to register and check into rooms during registration hours. Please schedule your travel plans in accordance with these hours:

Wednesday, June 4th 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. McShain Lounge in McCarthy Hall (MAP)
Thursday, June 5th 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. McShain Lounge in McCarthy Hall (MAP)

No check-ins will be available prior to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4th. If you have travel plans that necessitate you needing to check-in to the Residence Hall after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, or outside of the registration hours on Thursday, please proceed to the Village C West Residence Hall Office (MAP). If you need to contact the residence hall office, call them directly at 202/687-2673.

Traveling by Air

The Washington, D.C., area is serviced by three airports. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is the closest to Georgetown University.

Parking
On campus parking is very limited. Visitor parking passes, however, may be purchased at the entrance to the Southwest Quad Garage, accessible from the Canal Road entrance.  Conference participants are encouraged to use public transportation.  Do not park on the streets surrounding the campus - a two hour maximum parking limit for nonresident vehicles is strictly enforced.

Traveling by Train or Bus
Train and bus service are also available to and from the Washington metropolitan region, usually through the city's historic Union Station. Taxi, metro and bus service, serving the city of Washington D.C., is available from Union Station. Please allow yourself one hour of travel time to get to the Georgetown University Campus.

Getting to Georgetown University by Metrorail or Bus
The closest Metrorail stops are Rosslyn on the Blue/Orange Line and Dupont Circle on the Red Line. The University is served by the G2, D2 and D6 Metrobus routes. Driving Directions to Georgetown University

  • From Baltimore-Washington Parkway or Rte. 50 Westbound
    Take B-W Parkway or Rte. 50 west to New York Ave.  Take New York Ave. to L St. Bear right.  Turn left on 10th St. and then right on K St. Follow K St. to Whitehurst Freeway. Turn left onto Canal Rd. Stay in right lane. After approximately ¼ mile past the Exxon on the right, bear right into campus up a gentle slope and follow the signs to the Visitor Paid (Southwest Quad) Parking Garage – it is the second garage on the right.
  • From I-95 and I-495
    Take I-95 south to I-495 west towards Silver Spring. Immediately after crossing the American Legion Bridge (Potomac River), exit onto the George Washington Parkway. Exit at Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge, staying in second lane from left. Turn left onto Canal Rd. Stay in right lane. After approximately ¼ mile past the Exxon on the right, bear right into campus. Follow signs to the Visitor Paid (Southwest Quad) Parking Garage – it is the second garage on the right.
  • From Washington DC
    Take M Street towards Key Bridge. Go past Key Bridge on M St., traveling in the right lane. After approximately ¼ mile past the Exxon on the right, bear right into campus. Follow signs to the Visitor Paid (Southwest Quad) Parking Garage – it is the second garage on the right.
