Programs in a Box
Public Policy Brunch
What is the program?
This Program in a Box will cover the components of planning and implementing an effective public policy brunch event. This program was inspired by the AAUW of Kenosha (WI) branch's annual event, which allows AAUW and community members to discuss issues and concerns affecting their community and build stronger relationships with their local elected officials. This could be a one-time program or an annual event.
How will this program benefit your state or branch or community?
An annual public policy brunch event in your community will:
- Provide AAUW members with more information on what's going on in their state and local government
- Provide a unique environment for AAUW members to express their views on the issues directly to their legislators and local politicians
- Create and strengthen relationships between AAUW and local politicians
- Increase the visibility of AAUW as a community leader and powerful advocate for women
- Serve as a tool for membership recruitment
- Develop the organizational and event planning skills of AAUW members
