| Vote Scheduled on Paycheck Fairness Act
In September, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed cloture on the Paycheck Fairness Act, a critical milestone in AAUW's efforts to move the bill toward final passage. The bill will be one of the first to be voted on during the lame-duck session starting November 15. Watch for advocacy alerts and actions this month. Our work is not over! |
| AAUW Delegation Visits Israel
A delegation of AAUW members, including Executive Director Linda D. Hallman, recently returned from an educational trip to Israel. The group visited Haifa, Tiberias, and Jerusalem and met with leading Israeli political and professional women. The trip was designed to build relationships and open opportunities for dialogue and action. |
Congressional Voting Record and Voter Guides Released
The AAUW Action Fund released its Congressional Voting Record and voter guides on the issues that matter most to women and their families in the 2010 elections. Voter guides for key Senate, House, and gubernatorial races are available at www.aauwaction.org. |
AAUW Report Featured at Conference
AAUW Senior Researcher Andresse St. Rose will present on the AAUW report Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at the first annual STEMtech conference. The conference will attract educators, industry leaders, and others to discuss increasing student access
to and success in science and technology majors and careers. |
AAUW Attends White House Summit
AAUW Director of Public Policy and Government Relations Lisa Maatz participated in the White House community college summit on October 5. The summit, led by
Dr. Jill Biden, highlighted new partnerships between community colleges and major corporations and the launch of a $35 million, five-year competitive grant program to boost graduation rates. |

New SAC Members Come to Washington, D.C.
In early October, AAUW selected 10 outstanding college women leaders from around the country to serve on the 2010–11 Student Advisory Council. The SAC members will attend a retreat in Washington, D.C., on October 29–31 to learn how to become AAUW ambassadors on their campuses and in their communities. |

LAF-Supported Case Goes to Trial
The new LAF-supported Title IX case Foltz et al. v. Delaware State University went to trial October 18 in the U.S. District Court for Delaware. AAUW's funding paid for an expert witness to testify on behalf of the plaintiffs
in this important case. |

Finalists will be featured at the AAUW National Convention and will receive convention discounts. Top awardees will be announced at the AAUW National Convention banquet
and will receive a $3,000 award. |
Apply for an AAUW Fellowship or Grant
Applications are currently being accepted for AAUW's fellowship and grant programs. Women pursuing graduate studies or leading community-based projects designed to increase equity and education for women and girls may be eligible for one of the five programs.
