AAUW Earns Another Top Rating from GreatNonprofits
GreatNonprofits recognizes AAUW as a highly rated education and women’s empowerment organization, and this month, they added “top-rated social justice organization” to the list. Read the stories about AAUW to find out why we have a five-star rating, and then tell your own story about how AAUW helps you and your students work for social justice.

Advocating for College Women on the Hill
The AAUW Action Fund Capitol Hill Lobby Corps has been educating policy makers about the importance of safety on college campuses, and right now they’re advocating for the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act. This legislation would help prevent sexual assault and violence on campus by requiring schools to spell out their policies, conduct prevention activities, and ensure that victims get the assistance they need. AAUW’s Campus Sexual Assault Program in a Box also helps schools achieve the requirements of this bill. Visit our website to learn more about how AAUW is advocating for campus safety on Capitol Hill.

Selection Panelists Needed
AAUW’s fellowships and grants review and selection panelists are seasoned experts in academia and professions who analyze thousands of applications for the approximately $4 million dollars in annual awards AAUW gives to women. We are seeking new talent and expertise for these roles and have extended the deadline to October 14, 2011, for recommendations of reviewers for American Fellowships and International Fellowships. Application review will take place in December 2011. For more information, visit the fellowships and grants selection panels web page, and please pass this information on to your networks!

Campus Connections in Action

Dancing for Activism
The AAUW Baton Rouge (LA) Branch and Louisiana State University teamed up on August 26 to create a Women's Equality Day flash mob. Students and AAUW branch members made a splash as they danced together and handed out brochures to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. They spread the message that young women should be active, vote, and be involved in the women's equality movement. Watch the flash mob video to see dancing as well as interviews with the participants and organizers.
