Bring These Programs to Your Campus in the 2011–12 Academic Year!
Elect Her – Campus Women Win: The Elect Her initiative encourages leadership development and trains young women to run for student government on their campuses. In 2011, more than 400 college students were trained on 17 campus sites, and 100 percent of participants said that they would recommend the training to a friend. Don’t miss the opportunity to bring this program to your campus in 2012! Applications are available online in late August and are due September 30, 2011.

$tart $mart salary negotiation workshops: This program teaches college women entering the job market how to benchmark and negotiate a fair salary. More than 130 schools have hosted this training, and numerous students have sent us messages of thanks for what they’ve learned.Bring a $tart $mart workshop to your campus anytime during the year by contacting us at leadership@aauw.org.

AAUW Campus Action Project grants: Campus Action Projects enable student leaders and campus faculty to design and carry out effective programs that implement AAUW’s most current research while enhancing campus offerings, promoting leadership, and improving academic and career outcomes. This year, CAP grant recipients will highlight AAUW’s research findings in the area of sexual harassment in middle and high schools. Applications for grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 are due October 21, 2011.

National Student Advisory Council: From October through June, SAC members advise AAUW staff about student needs, contribute ideas for combating sex discrimination in higher education and the workplace, promote AAUW and our programs on their campus, write for AAUW’s Dialog blog, and participate in the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. Recruit your students for this exclusive leadership opportunity. Applications will be available on the SAC site the last week of August.

National Conference for College Women Student Leaders Was a Huge Success!
More than 500 college women from all 50 states; Washington, D.C.; Guam; and Jamaica joined AAUW and NASPA for the 2011 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders June 2–4 at the University of Maryland, College Park. This year, 78 scholarships were awarded to make NCCWSL a reality for students who couldn’t otherwise afford to go. Watch the student testimonials and hear for yourself why NCCWSL is a life-changing experience for women. Plan today to send your students to the 2012 conference and to represent your school in our Graduate School Fair next June!

Campus Connections in Action
Since 1989, the AAUW St. Lawrence County (NY) Branch has sponsored Open Windows for Girls, a series of educational enrichment grants for low-income girls to attend a summer camp. They have partnered with C/U partner members Clarkson University and the State University of New York, Canton, along with many other institutions, to provide an opportunity for dozens of 10- to 15-year-old girls to attend camps with local colleges, the 4-H Club, and the Girl Scouts. At the camps, the girls can learn about the environment, music, sports, math, science, and technology. AAUW applauds the St. Lawrence County branch for working with C/U partner members to empower these young women. Send in stories to behlingb@aauw.org about how you are making the most of your AAUW membership so we can share your successes with our nationwide AAUW community!
