Grassroots Organizing: A Blueprint For Effective Advocacy And Outreach

Participants will learn important skills they need to become effective advocates when dealing with federal, state, and local policy-makers. This hands-on workshop will provide practical tips and tools to communicate with elected officials on a variety of important policy issues, and presenters will discuss various strategies for increasing the visibility of outreach efforts. This session will benefit those with the desire to promote AAUW's mission through advocacy.

A key component to narrowing the wage gap is improving women's negotiation skills. Breaking through Barriers: Making Connections on Campus

Strengthening AAUW's connections on college and university campuses is an essential component to furthering AAUW's mission and value promise. Not only do we need to enlighten students about the issues facing women today, we also need to let the faculty and administrators know that AAUW is ready to partner with them in this endeavor. This workshop will provide strategies for engaging campuses and students, including use of the latest college/university partner member benefits.

Creating a Healthy Branch Culture and Branch Best Practices

Branches are the backbone of AAUW. Given the critical changes happening within AAUW, it is imperative that we find ways to strengthen, maintain, and grow our branches. This workshop focuses on ways that branches can create and target membership recruitment, coalition, and mission programming opportunities. It will also focus on branch planning, branch structure, internal and external branch communication, and branch behavior, and it will provide tools and tactics to create healthy and successful branches.
