AAUW Leaders in Their Own Words...

I believe that it is important for as many members as possible to attend the AAUW National Convention because of the interactions and opportunities. Each time that I have attended I have been inspired by the people and events. It is wonderful to be around others with similar passions to mine.
Marian Seagren Hall — President, AAUW of Wisconsin

The AAUW convention is about synergy and about learning. It is an opportunity to learn from each other, rev up about the issues that matter to us, reconnect with friends of longstanding and make new friends.
Carlynne McDonnell — Member, AAUW Program Development Committee

This is an exciting and historic time — to be a part of moving AAUW forward so that we can continue to lead in breaking [through] barriers. I get goose bumps thinking about being part of history. The power and strength of committed women is awesome.
Ronni Nivala — Director-at-Large, AAUW Board of Directors

To participate in choosing the future of AAUW
Karen Kirkwood — President, AAUW of Minnesota

I like having my voice heard as a voting member. Also, the convention helps you understand the workings of the organization [and] gives you the opportunity to network with members from other states. You can get fresh ideas on programs and you can offer advice on what works for your state.
Mildred Hoffler-Foushee — President, AAUW of North Carolina

It is always so inspiring to know what is happening on a national level.
Deverie Kiedaisch — Program/Public Policy Chair, Keokuk (IA) Branch

There is nowhere else where I could find a group of dedicated, intelligent, articulate women assembled together in one place, working together for common goals.
Julia Triplett- Program Chair, AAUW of Missouri

To learn more about what is happening at a national level and network with other branches around the country to get ideas to take back to your branch
Lori Switzer — Bylaws Chair, AAUW of Illinois

There is nothing more inspiring than being in a room full of hundreds of women working toward the same thing. The enthusiasm and motivation is so contagious, and one comes back to the branch positively energized. It is great leadership development.
Caroline Pickens — Chair, AAUW Bylaws Committee

To ensure that our organization remains a potent agent of change well into the 21st century
Amy Blackwell — President, AAUW Lakewood (CO) Branch

To be with like-minded women from across the USA
Malinda Gaul — Member, AAUW Convention Procedures Committee

To meet other like-minded women and to further the cause of equity for women
Margaret Ferruzzi — President, AAUW Waukegan Area (IL) Branch
