"Two Minute Activist is worth the dues. It ... allows me to have a voice when I might not have the time ... to follow all the legislation and draft letters and responses." *
– Theresa Merkel, Former AAUW Virginia State President, 2006
For more than a century, the American Association of University Women has been the nation's leading voice promoting education and equity for women and girls.
AAUW has played a key role in critical women's and civil rights issues through lobbying, briefing Congress and the administration, and spearheading coalitions. AAUW championed the first federal legislative proposal for pay equity, fought for passage of Title IX (which outlaws sex discrimination in education), and supported Roe v. Wade. In 1995 AAUW launched its Voter Education Campaign to strengthen women's voices with policy-makers.
Lobbying and advocacy contributions to the Association are not tax deductible.
In addition to outright contributions you can support AAUW by participating in affinity programs such as the AAUW insurance program, magazine service, and floraGift and by using ShopAAUW.
