Campus Action Project 2011-12

The 2011–12 Campus Action Project (CAP) grant program focuses on the issues raised by AAUW’s research report, Crossing the Line: Sexual Harassment at School. The report is the first one in 10 years to include nationally representative data about sexual harassment in grades 7–12. Data from the report show that sexual harassment, including cyber-harassment, is prevalent in middle and high schools today. Sexual harassment often negatively affects students’ education, and most students feel that their schools should do more about it.
AAUW invited proposals for this year’s CAP grant from U.S. college/university campus-based teams. The seven selected teams will either work with local middle and/or high schools or work with teenage youth in their community to raise awareness about sexual harassment and/or improve schools’ prevention methods and responsiveness to sexual harassment.
AAUW will fund one member of each team to attend and present on the project at the AAUW/NASPA National Conference for College Women Student Leaders in Washington, D.C., from May 31 through June 1, 2012.
