Katie Broendel

Katie Broendel, AAUW’s Media and Public Relations manager, earned her master’s degree in public communication at American University in Washington, D.C. Her thesis focused on the framing of sexual violence in the media. She earned her bachelor’s degree in geography at the University of Mary Washington and has worked for several nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C., including the National Geographic Society.

AAUW Releases State Rankings on Equal Pay Based on New Census Data

AAUW released its latest analysis of the gender pay gap, which shows that the gap is narrowest in the District of Columbia, where women’s median earnings are 90 percent of men’s, and widest in Wyoming, where women earn just 64 percent of what men earn. Nationally, women working full time are paid, only 77 percent of what men are paid, just as they were a decade ago. Read more »
