Program Description
The Primary Child Caretaker Leave Policy provides caretakers compensated leave at 75 percent of their salary. Staff employees are provided 18 weeks of compensated leave, while faculty members – tenured and non-tenured – receive compensated leave for one semester. Non-tenured faculty have the option of “stopping the tenure clock” while on leave. Additionally, primary caretakers can receive partial-paid time off following the birth or adoption of a child. Pitzer’s policy is open to both men and women and domestic partners and spouses.
Update
The leave policy is still in effect and open to regular-benefit eligible staff working at least 20 hrs/week, after completing one year of employment. Also, the policy is available to full-time faculty on tenure track or tenured appointments after completing one year of service. Benefits include partial paid time off for primary caretaker following birth or adoption of child. Several options are available for faculty and staff. (*Will also coordinate with the California Paid Family Leave - PFL).
