Program Description
This program promotes non-traditional, high-tech careers to women and provides financial and professional assistance for women enrolled in the college's engineering technology programs. Since its inception in 1997, NETWORKS has enrolled 40-50 students each semester. The program offers textbook reimbursement, dependent care, job shadow and mentor opportunities, and referrals to career planning and guidance services. Because of the program's success, an additional federal Perkins grant under the vocational education law was awarded for the 1999-2000 academic year to increase service to special populations (single parents, students with disabilities, displaced homemakers, economically disadvantaged and international students).
