Program Description
Established in 1973, it is one of only six NCAA Division I women’s athletic programs in the country. The program, still under the leadership of its first director, Dr. Christine Grant, is dedicated to supporting the academic, athletic, and overall personal development of women student athletes. It is recognized as the leader in women’s athletics – not only for the quality of its support of student athletes, but for maintaining a staff and budget separate from the university’s men’s athletics program, and for providing opportunities for graduate students to gain administrative and coaching experience through internships and assistantships.
