Program Description
Established in 1978 as a resource and action center, the Women’s Center at MSU offers a variety of programs that serve diverse groups of women on campus. These programs include sexual assault education; special events for the university community on women’s issues and history; and information, referral, and counseling services. The center has developed numerous publications that have served as models for other institutions, ranging from the Prairie Women’s Journal, which includes essays, poetry, and short fiction, to brochures dealing with sexual assault. Through the efforts of the Women’s Center staff, the Violence Prevention Center was established to help make Mankato State University a violence-free community.
