In this case, a professor of women's studies who charged that she was refused tenure because of her sex and academic field was awarded tenure and $156,500 in an out-of-court settlement. Nancy Shaw, now known as Nancy Stoller, is currently chair of Community Studies at UC-Santa Cruz.
