Moore v. Regents of the University of California
Case History
A tenure discrimination lawsuit in which Julia Moore, a musicologist, charged that her credentials and letters of support were suppressed and lied about during the tenure review process. The university ranked her last among four finalists for tenure and awarded the job to a male who Moore claimed had fewer qualifications than she. Moore also alleged that she experienced sexual harassment and discrimination on the basis of her sexual orientation. In July 1995, the case settled out of court. Settlement terms cannot be discussed.
