Arefi v. Florida International University
Case History
A case in which an assistant professor of computer science who has worked at Florida International University (FIU) since 1989 sued FIU for pay inequity and sex discrimination in the denial of tenure. Farah Arefi was denied tenure despite satisfactory performance evaluations and unanimous support from the Department of Computer Science and the Committee on Tenure and Promotion. Farah Arefi settled her case in June 1996. Settlement terms cannot be disclosed.
