An Informed Voter is a Powerful Voter
AAUW's Voter Education Campaign is brimming with a variety of resources to help you become educated about the issues and to motivate others to take action.

Get Informed and Track the Issues

• Keep up to date on issues of concern to women and families with AAUW issue pages.
• Take action with AAUW's online Two-Minute Activist and tell your members of Congress where you stand on the issues important to women and girls. Sign up for to AAUW's Action Network to receive weekly e-mail alerts for immediate action.
• AAUW members can also sign up for Washington Update, AAUW's free, members-only weekly e-bulletin. It offers an insider's view on the legislative process, the latest policy news, resources for advocates, programming ideas, and updates from the Public Policy and Government Relations Department. Interested members should e-mail a request to be added to the list to AAUW's Grassroots Coordinator.

Involve Others in Voter Education Efforts

• Launch a voter registration drive in your community.
• Talk with women in your community about actions that Congress has taken on issues that affect their lives and how important it is that women become involved in the political process. AAUW's Congressional Voting Record is a great tool for this.
• Offer your language and people skills to embrace voters from underrepresented voting groups including minorities, new citizens, and young adults. Sometimes people need help to become informed, and informed citizens are more likely to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
• Educate your community about issues important to women and girls. Write letters to the editor for your newspaper. AAUW's Two-Minute Activist online resource helps you find local publications that accept letters to the editor.

Get Out the Vote

• AAUW's Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout manual offers step-by-step information to help you get out the women's vote, including programming ideas to educate women voters.
• Host a bi-partisan debate watch party to encourage an open discussion on issues.
• Sponsor and participate in candidate nights and issue forums to highlight AAUW priority issues. These events give the public an opportunity to learn more about where candidates stand on the issues important to women, or about critical issues of the day.  Request a download of the Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout manual for ideas and advice about doing this kind of programming.
