AAUW of Alabama members worked with their governor to proclaim Nov. 28, 2006 "American Association of University Women Day" in the state. "It was awe-inspiring to have state leaders gather together for the celebration of this historical event," said AAUW of Alabama Communications Director Candice J. Rigsby. "Celebrating AAUW's 125th Anniversary with the Governor of Alabama was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am thankful to have had the chance to be involved."

Deleware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner proclaimed Nov. 28 "American Association of University Women Day" in the state. Minner has been a member of AAUW Dover (DE) Branch since 2002. Branch president Maisha Britt says of the governor, "She attends AAUW events when she has a speaking role or to make a presentation...[despite] her demanding role and schedule." At its meeting on Monday, Nov. 6, the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners will proclaim Nov. 28 AAUW Day.

The Amarillo Globe-News printed a photo of AAUW Amarillo (TX) Branch President Janette Kelley on Dec. 27, 2006. The caption read: "Janette Kelley president of the Amarillo Branch of the American Association of University Women, shows off a proclamation from Mayor Debra McCartt and the Amarillo City Commission designating Nov. 28 as American Association of University Women Day marking the group's 125th anniversary."
