| Washington -- The American Association of University Women announces the publication of a valuable new tool to assist its members and other grassroots groups making plans to turn out women voters in the midterm elections this fall. Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout: A Manual for Community-Based Campaigns to Mobilize Women to Vote was released today. “With more than 100,000 bipartisan members and 1,300 branches, AAUW has the strong community connections needed to make a positive impact on turning out women voters,” said Lisa Maatz, AAUW director of public policy and government relations. “The Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout manual provides detailed instructions for AAUW members and coalition partners to run a campaign in their own community which is aimed specifically at reaching out to women who need encouragement to vote on Election Day.” The manual guides advocates step-by-step through planning a campaign, including recruiting volunteers, working with publicly available voter registration files to identify drop-off women voters, and contacting those women through canvassing and phone banking. “The Woman-to-Woman program also stresses the value of continued outreach to drop-off women voters throughout the year, as well as the importance of educating women about policy issues important to them through public forums, candidate nights, and other community activities,” said Maatz. “AAUW expects this resource to be the centerpiece of its ongoing member-led voter education campaign and a catalyst for long-term efforts to increase voter turnout of women nationwide.” For more information about the Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout manual, contact VoterEd@aauw.org. ### The American Association of University Women, with its nationwide network of more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 500 college and university partners, has been a leading advocate for equity for women and girls since 1881.
