Iaskemma.com, AAUW Empower Collegiate Women to
Take Control of Their Money

Student Leaders to Gain Education in Personal Finance at June 5 Conference Workshop

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – At a time when millions of Americans are struggling financially, iaskemma.com and AAUW are working together to make sure the next generation of women leaders make savvy financial decisions.

Representatives of iaskemma.com, a financial website based in Columbia, Missouri, will present the workshop "Money: The Most Important Discussion You Have Not Had" on June 5, at the AAUW/NASPA National Conference for College Women Student Leaders at the University of Maryland, College Park. The workshop, offered at two different times, will cover essential personal finance topics including budgeting, saving, and understanding credit card debt.

"In these tough economic times, frank conversations about money are sorely needed. We are glad to partner with iaskemma.com to make sure these young college women are traveling down the right financial path," said AAUW Executive Director Linda D. Hallman, CAE. "AAUW works tirelessly for the economic security of women. While we are known for our public policy successes, we also pride ourselves on being a resource for women and girls, arming them with the critical knowledge they need to prosper."

"Students study a wide array of subjects in school, but personal finance is not often one of them," said Chris Johns, co-founder of iaskemma.com. "With this workshop, we are bridging that knowledge gap and empowering tomorrow's leaders to make well-informed financial decisions." Set for June 4–6 at the University of Maryland, College Park, the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders will feature inspiring speakers, the ever-popular Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony, and dynamic workshops.

"I was thrilled when I learned that iaskemma.com would join us at NCCWSL. So many students graduate from college today without a basic knowledge of financial planning for the future — or even tracking everyday expenses. Iaskemma gives its members easy, step-by-step instructions on how to manage their money," said Cordy Galligan, AAUW director of corporate relationships.

"We at iaskemma.com are excited to be a part of the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders and are honored to be working with AAUW," said Don Broekelmann, co-founder of iaskemma.com.

With the theme "Leadership for Today and Tomorrow," the conference includes networking opportunities and more than 50 workshops on a variety of topics such as advocacy, leadership skill building, financial management, and health and wellness. Campaign College, a groundbreaking workshop that encourages young women to run for campus office, will be offered as well. More than 300 campus leaders from 38 states, the West Indies, and Nepal will attend the annual event presented by the AAUW Leadership and Training Institute and the NASPA Center for Scholarship, Research, and Professional Development for Women.
