Value to Students

Did you know that just one year out of college, women working full time already earn less than their male colleagues? Ten years after graduation, the pay gap widens. As an AAUW student affiliate you can be part of a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance. Together we are a strong voice advocating for equity in education and civil rights issues.

AAUW student affiliates receive exceptional tangible and intangible benefits — development opportunities, a vibrant community, relevant information, and valuable resources.

Development Opportunities
AAUW is passionate about helping you achieve your educational and professional goals. There are abundant national leadership development resources including the Student Advisory Council, the Campus Action Project grant program, and the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, an annual leadership training conference in Washington, D.C. that attracts more than 500 students. Additionally, our local branches create thousands of learning experiences each year.

Vibrant Community
The opportunity to connect with others and grow as a leader extends from national initiatives all the way to the grassroots level in our local branches. You can join or start a local AAUW student affiliate satellite group on your campus. Contact us at students@aauw.org for more information. Find your local AAUW branch using the branch locator so that you can network with local professionals and coordinate events and projects on your campus and in the community. Stay on the pulse of all issues and activities through AAUW’s growing social media network by joining the AAUW Facebook page and group, and following us on Twitter, YouTube, and the AAUW Dialog blog.
