A: AAUW's College/University Partner Membership Program connects your institution to the oldest and most powerful women's organization. With AAUW, you will help women on your campus and nationwide achieve their goals and become tomorrow's leaders. Backed by a national network of 100,000 members and 1,000 branches, AAUW will
  • Spread the word about $4 million in fellowships and grants
  • Enhance your curricula with cutting-edge research
  • Strengthen your community through programs for women

  1. Q: What is the AAUW College/University Partnership Committee?

A: The committee coordinates efforts and promotes AAUW action on higher education concerns and calls member attention to issues in higher education relevant to AAUW's mission.

  2. Q: Who serves as the institution's liaison with AAUW?

A: The institution's president or other leader can be the liaison, or that person can appoint a contact (possibly a dean, women's studies director, Title IX coordinator, or nontraditional students director). The contact then serves as a link between the campus and AAUW. That individual is also a voting delegate for the institution at state and national conventions.

  3. Q: How can I get more information about AAUW programs related to colleges and universities?

A: Send an e-mail to helpline@aauw.org or call 800/326-AAUW (2289). In particular, ask about the Transitions Conference Guide for hosting a conference for women considering a return to school. The one-day conference, co-sponsored by a branch and a local college or university, offers information and support on financial aid, study skills, and issues related to balancing college, work, and family. This program is based on findings from Gaining a Foothold: Women's Transitions Through Work and College, the 1999 AAUW Educational Foundation report.

  4. Q: How can I obtain AAUW's research reports?

    A: Contact AAUW's sales office at 800/225-9998.
