New Jersey Institute of Technology has launched a major faculty hiring initiative to support the university's mission-critical strategic research and technological innovation areas. These new positions are targeted to not only leverage and complement existing faculty strengths, but more importantly, to lead NJIT into new frontiers of research and discovery. In the first phase of this initiative, the School of Management invites outstanding applicants for three (3) tenured/tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor faculty positions starting in August, 2012. The School of Management (SOM)
SOM is an AACSB accredited school with undergraduate and master level programs that is featured in the 2011 Princeton Review's The Best 300 Business Schools. As part of New Jersey's science and technology university, SOM focuses on the management, financing and commercialization of technology. NJIT's Enterprise Development Center, one of the largest business incubators in the mid-Atlantic region, provides a real world learning lab for its students and faculty, allowing them to engage in activities to accelerate commercialization of technology and conduct research on management models and theories. The school has approximately 700 students and thirty faculty and teaching staff.

Position Responsibilities
The main duties for each position include research, teaching and service. Experience with funded research is a highly desirable attribute (including past and current records of success in completing RFPs from federal and/or local governments and industry). NJIT has identified priority strategic research areas to which successful candidates are expected to contribute. These include cloud computing, computing hardware, healthcare and healthcare informatics, pharmaceutical processes, medical devices, resilient infrastructure, energy systems, wireless communications, cellular systems, sustainable environment, and sustainable production systems among others. Experience in creation of, and/or involvement with, economic development centers, and active participation in advising graduate students is also desirable.

The initial appointment is for three years, and there is a possibility of renewal. The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach introductory astronomy courses for non-majors, introductory physics for majors, and an upper-division astronomy course for physics majors.  S/he is also expected to engage in service at the departmental level or higher and in professional activity that is appropriate to the discipline and that contributes to her/his teaching. Tenure-track Assistant Professor — Evolutionary Developmental Biology
