National Voter Registration Day Is Almost Here!

September 19, 2012

The AAUW Action Fund’s It’s My Vote: I Will Be Heard voter education and turnout campaign represents an unprecedented investment in making women’s voices heard in the 2012 election. Follow us on Twitter and on Tumblr for the latest updates, and check out our biweekly Campaign Update for news, resources, and ideas.

We’re 48 days away from Election Day, and we’re down to the last weeks of voter registration for many states. That’s why AAUW has joined groups like the Bus Federation Civic Fund and the League of Women Voters in mobilizing around National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 25. In fact, AAUW has decided to prioritize voter registration for the entire week to maximize the momentum around this effort.

Throughout next week, we’ll be holding voter registration drives, blogging about everything related to voting, tweeting about new resources and event highlights (follow us @itsmyvote!), and continuing to raise awareness about the AAUW Action Fund’s It’s My Vote: I Will Be Heard campaign.

It’s not too late to join in the fun! Host your own voter registration drive, and we’ll highlight it as part of the effort. Request a PDF of the Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout manual for tips on registering voters, or contact VoterEd@aauw.org with questions.

The California AAUW branches are doing their part in the “It’s My Vote” Campaign. San Mateo and San Francisco branches registered voters at Academy of Arts University on September 17th. After reading your “Dialog”, I registered more students in my two classes at Academy of Arts on September 19th. Hayward branch has been registering voters on Chabot College, San Carlos is busy at Canada College, Notre Dame DeNamur and Belmont Library. Pacifica & North Peninsula will be at Skyline College for four days starting Oct. 1st. Carlsbad/Oceanside/Vista have joined with Fallbrook/Escondido to register at Cal State University-San Marcos. San Mateo is also planning registration at College of San Mateo the week of Oct. 1.
