Vice Presidential Bingo

September 30, 2008

Given all the headlines today, “fun” has not been in the vocabulary of many when discussing events having huge potential impact. Between now and the November 4 election, we will continue to be inundated with all kinds of political confetti — prepared speeches, voicemails from “your” candidate sounding like they actually called and left a message, postcards, and so many TV ads, we will be wishing for the half-time frogs.

So, before things get any more serious than they already are, here is a small tool to help you get the most out of the upcoming vice presidential debate. Since we’ll all be listening for the unexpected among the rehearsed, maybe it’s time to make it a bit of a game. Debate Bingo!

Here is a square already filled in for immediate use — a quick “print” and you’re off. However, for those of you in a serious group setting, create your own board, mix up the words, or add some of your own and put a prize on the table.

In my continuing effort to provide web links that enhance learning, I realized I wasn’t able to for this post. There are, much to my amusement, others who thought to put this old standby game into the political arena; however, we may be the first to claim the spirit of nonpartisanship, as all other games were definitely lampooning one or the other candidate. Print this or create your own — and have fun!

This is great, Christy! It’s in the most difficult times when we often need a touch of humor the most.

    Happy watching.

  3. Rusty says:

Christy: This will be great fun. I am very tired of the negative ads. This will be fun putting a little humor into the night.

  4. I started playing late, but got BINGO about halfway through the debate. I figured it was going to be a quick game getting Wall Street, McCain, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, and economy within the first 15 minutes, but it took a while to mention Iraq. It was fun and forced me to really listen to what was being said.

I must say, though, that if I hear the word “maverick” one more time, I’m gonna go postal. It was used at least 14 times last evening and every time I hear that word I envision a Stetson Hat and a six-shooter.
